Who’s Ready for Homecoming?

This Jack by BB Dakota leather piece is so on trend, not to mention super easy to accessorize.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that certain experiences will always be associated with high school. Be it the big game or spirited pep rallies, prom night or graduation, specific moments are just described as “so high school.” We all have our favorite high school movies (mine is Mean Girls, of course), that all paint pictures of the typical high school experience. And when it comes down to it, there’s one event that will always be high school related…homecoming! Whether your homecoming dance is right around the corner or still a couple weeks away, it’s never too early to start planning your perfect homecoming look.

Another great Jack by BB Dakota piece plays with both lace and color, not to mention a pretty shape.

There is no doubt that choosing a homecoming dress can be overwhelming with all of the options out there. So to manage all the available choices, I like thinking about how to fuse fall fashion trends into dressier outfits. By taking a look at your closet and the styles you often sport, you’ll be able to choose a dress that is so “you,” everyone else will be blown away. With all the pictures that’ll be taken beforehand, it’s fun to wear an outfit that expresses who you are, so you can show it off! Trends I’ve seen this season that are totally cute and appropriate for the occasion? Lots of leather, lace, and eye catching prints.

Another perk about planning your homecoming look? It’s not just about the dress! Picking out accessories can be equally fun–if not more–than choosing a dress already is. Planning to wear a dress that’s perfectly simple? Step it up with a statement necklace. Have you picked out your best little black dress? Play around with colorful heels. Wearing something with a complicated neckline? Sport pretty dangly earrings, or sweep your hair into a chic updo! The choices are endless when personalizing your outfit to keep things original, fresh, and most importantly, totally you.

Last but not least, keep in mind that while the outfit is certainly part of the fun, it’s not the only thing that makes homecoming what it is. Don’t forget to have fun with your friends on the dance floor, and let me know what you choose!
